Clarification from Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department Following Viral Information Regarding Typhoon ‘Mangkhut’ 12 September 2018

Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department would like to clarify with regards to the viral
information on Typhoon ‘Mangkhut’ that is being spread in the social media.

In that regard, we would like to notify that Typhoon ‘Mangkhut’ is currently located
approximately 2600 km from Brunei Darussalam. According to current forecast, the
typhoon is expected to move towards the Philippines, and then Hong Kong. Typhoon
‘Mangkhut’ is not expected to affect our weather for the time being.

We shall continue to monitor on the development and track of Typhoon ‘Mangkhut’ closely
and will issue appropriate weather advisory or warnings if necessary. We also like to advice
