The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) would like to clarify that information being disseminated through social media 'WhatsApp' stating that an impending storm expected tomorrow over Brunei Darussalam is unfounded.

Brunei Darussalam will be experiencing mainly fine weather with variable amount of clouds. However, as often the case in the tropics, thundershowers and thunderstorms activities are still expected to take place. For the next few days, thundershowers are likely to affect the sea and coastal areas during the early morning and at night; and over the interior areas during the afternoon. These activities are usually short-lived and may become quite heavy over some areas. Gusting winds of up to 40 km/h can be expected over areas where it rains the heaviest. We will continue to monitor the weather conditions closely and issue weather advisory or warning if the situation warrants.

We would also like to remind the general public not to disseminate unverified weather information through social media, which may cause panic and fear to members of the general public.
