NO TSUNAMI THREAT

20 Nov 2017

We would like to refer to a text message being circulated around through the Whatsapp application and
the social media mentioning the possibility of a tsunami threat to several areas in our neighbouring
region.

In this regard, to date the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department has not received any
information regarding the occurrence of a tsunami event eitherfrom Regional or International Tsunami
Warning Centres, that would have a potential threat to the country.

We seek cooperation and urge the general public not to disseminate further any unverified information
as it can cause anxiety and panic to members of the general public.

Members of the public who wish to follow the latest weather information may visit our website
www.met.gov.bn or follow our social media page on Facebook (bruneiweather), Instagram
(@bruneiweather) and by using the Brunei WX mobile application. The public can also contact our duty
Meteorological Forecaster at our Weather Forecast Office through our Weather Line 114.

Wallahualam Bissawab.
