On 23rd December 2017 at 8.00 am Local Time, Severe Tropical Storm ‘Tembin’ was located at Sulu Sea (7.7N 120.4E) and it is forecasted to move Westward to South China Sea.

Severe Tropical Storm ‘Tembin’ may cause prolonged rain and occasional heavy showers. Wind gust of up to 50 km/h can be expected near heavy showers and Rough sea state of up to 4.0 metres. This weather condition has high risk of flood or flash flood over low lying and flood prone areas, landslides and fallen trees.

The effect of this Severe Tropical Storm ‘Tembin’ is expected to commence today 23rd December 2017 until 26th December 2017.


1. Members of the public especially those staying at low lying and flood prone areas are to take necessary precautions especially during occasional heavy showers that coincide with high tide and to take early steps to ensure safety including property;

2. Motorists are also advised to exercise cautious especially during showers and slippery road; and

3. Mariners are also advised to take necessary precautions and steps in the current rough sea state.
